The curriculum is designed with equal emphasis on academic research and practical training. Theory-based courses help students to establish fundamental understanding of language pedagogy and cross-cultural communication in business contexts. Practice-oriented courses help them to develop English language teaching skills and business communication skills and strategies.

  1. Embracing Challenges of High-Tech in Language Teaching and Business Communication

Students will be taught how to make the best use of multimedia and computer technologies to enhance language teaching and business communication. They will learn not only to draw on resources from modern technologies but also to utilize new high-tech developments in their future professions.

  1. Strengthening High Research Quality in Applied Linguistics and TESOL

Efforts are made to strengthen students’ research ability and enhance their publication potentials in applied linguistics, TESOL, and business communication. Students will be encouraged to present papers in domestic and international conferences and participate in various academic exchange activities.

  1. Building Industry-Academia Collaboration in Language Teaching and Business Communication

Experienced teachers of English and industrial experts in business communication will be invited to give talks to help students better understand real job practices. In addition, student internships with companies or schools will be provided to help ease students into the highly competitive job market. The department also provides industries with needed services, such as English language training for personnel, language testing, and business correspondence and documents writing and editing.
