  • The B.A. programs provide a well-designed systematic curriculum for the learning of the application of the English language. In addition to the English language skills training courses, it offers ESP (English for specific purposes) courses in three areas: (1) Applied linguistics and English language teaching, (2) translation and interpreting, and (3) English for business communication and application. Moreover, courses in western literature and culture studies are provided to strengthen students’ cross-cultural understanding and competence.
  • The Department provides an excellent learning environment through outstanding and dedicated teaching faculty and the state-of-the-art facilities, including computer labs, multimedia language labs, the American culture lounge, simultaneous interpreting classrooms, and multifunctional classrooms.
  • The Department provides abundant domestic and overseas internship and service learning opportunities for the hands-on practice, such as VIP reception, conference reception and services, tour guiding, translation and interpreting, English language teaching, overseas Chinese language teaching, secretarial and marketing personnel in foreign trade sectors, and hospitality services.
  • The Department places a strong emphasis on international academic exchange and cross-cultural student activities. Internationally renowned scholars and experts are often invited to give talks in conferences or to teach short-term courses for academic exchange. In addition, students are encouraged to participate in student exchange programs and cross-cultural activities such as the international student leadership camp, international volunteer service programs, and international experiential learning project.
